MAKE has this great post up about a Chicago cold storage building that had to be defrosted after 90 years of meatpacking service as part of its sale to bicycle company SRAM. The images are fantastic. Definitely take a look at the time lapse footage of the melting process:
A post on the site Inspiration Green aggregates images of existing and proposed floating homes. The above example from the Louisiana banks of the Mississippi sits on large foam blocks; as the house rises with the water level, the surrounding guide posts keep the house in location.
The AT&T archive site has some pretty amazing stuff on it. I got tuned into it from the Saul Bass film posted earlier. Then I checked out this spot about the data requirements for the Twin Towers. Haunting.
