Great cut away illustration of this imaginary ice cream plant. Ice cream is always a good example product to use when you really need to talk about technical, boring and toxic industrial insulation products.
Beautiful set sketches from (the hand or office of?) Dante Ferretti, the great film production designer and long time collaborator of director Martin Scorcese. These from the production of Scorcese’s latest, Hugo. I love the pulley and the bracket detail on the steel column in the first drawing. Can’t wait to see the film. Via the nytimes.
I got an awesome pair of boots from L.L. Bean for father’s day yesterday– thank you KR and HS!!– and I was almost as excited about the beautiful paper that came in the box to wrap the boots. It looks like an old repeat from their archives, unless of course they never stopped using it. Anyway, the illustrations are gorgeous; check out the movement on that fisherman. They need to add some color and get into making bedding for kids. Classic stuff.
I really really really love the way Craighton Berman draws and thinks and have been in awe of his submissions to Coretoons under the pen “Fueled by Coffee.” But I’m particularly in awe of the cleanliness and sanity of his note taking as shown in some scans in recent post. With marker shading? Yeah, I kind of just get dumb and stop wanting to go on.
My research assistant is super cute.
